Police Commemoration Day observed across state

The Police Commemoration Day was observed at the Manipur Police Memorial, 1st Bn Manipur Rifles on Saturday to honour police personnel who laid down their lives in the line of duty.
The names of 188 (one hundred eighty-eight) Police personnel from all parts of the country who attained martyrdom during the period from September 1, 2022 to August 31, 2023 were read out on the occasion.
Among them, the names of eight police personnel from the state, namely Havildar Heisnam Jiten and Thokchom Kiran, Head Constable Dimngel Lenglam and Riflemen Tourangbam Rishikumar, Th Thoiba, P Ranabir, L Surajit and Kh Jiten were also included.
Led by Director General of Police Rajiv Singh, officers and personnel of Manipur Police Department placed wreaths at the memorial stone.
A commemoration parade by 1MR Contingent followed by a two-minute silence was also observed to honour the martyred police personnel.
In his speech, DGP Rajiv assured that Manipur police will extend all possible help to the families of police personnel who were killed in the line of duty.
The Police Commemoration Day was also observed by all District Police and Battalions in both hill and valley districts.
THOUBAL: SP Sachidananda Soibam and 3IRB Commandant Sarangthem Hemanta led the district police in offering floral tributes to the portraits of 23 deceased police personnel as part of Police Commemoration Day held at Thoubal District Police Headquarters on Saturday.
During the observance, the SP honoured the families of the departed police personnel.
District Police, Thoubal and Association of Voluntary Blood Donors Manipur, Thoubal District Branch also jointly organised a blood donation camp to mark the event at the campus of District Police Headquarters, which was attended by various officers of the district police.
Speaking to media persons after handing over certificates to the blood donors, SP Sachidananda informed that around 66 people including police officers participated in the camp.
KAKCHING: Kakching district police observed Police Commemoration Day 2023 at the office of District Police Headquarters, Kakching/SP Kakching on Saturday.
The observance was attended by SP Thokchom Vikramjit, Addl SP (OPs) Chongtham Binoy, Addl SP (L&O in-charge) Athokpam Romendro, and top police officials and personnel of Kakching District, along with families of the deceased police personnel.
Floral tributes were offered to the portrait of the deceased personnel.
The dignitaries also honoured the families of seven deceased police personnel, namely Mayanglambam Chaoba Singh of Kakching Moirangthem Leikai, Huiningshubam Lukhoi of Keirak Mamang Leikai, Sapam Rajkumar Singh of Sugnu Mayai Leikai, Naorem Kesho Singh of Kakching Mayai Leikai Yaikhom Pareng, Chongtham Rishikanta of Thounaojam Mamang Leikai, Mayanglambam Shyamkumar of Kakching Khongnang Mari Phangba and Maibam Kantakumar of Tejpur Makha Leikai.
CHANDEL: Chandel District Police and 8MR jointly observed Police Commemoration Day 2023 at the headquarters of 8MR in Leikun, Chandel district on Saturday.
SP Pandey Hemant, 8 Battalion Manipur Rifles CO Salam Somorjit, Chandel Addl SP Augustine J Khongsai, 8MR Dy Commandant Ng Parshing and personnel of Chandel District Police and 8MR offered floral tributes to the portraits of deceased Chandel district police and 8MR personnel.
