Pallel GP launched as Model Village under SAGY

Kakching, November 09 2022: Lok Sabha MP Dr Lorho S Pfoze on Wednesday launched Pallel Gram Panchayat as Adarsh Gram (model village) of Kakching district under Sanshad Adarsh Gram Yojana (SAGY) .

The launch programme was organised by Kakching district administration at Pallel Maning community hall of Pallel Gram Panchayat, Kakching district.

A foundation stone of Pallel Model Gram Panchayat under SAGY was laid by the chief guest, Dr Lorho in the presence of Kakching MLA M Ramesh-war Singh and district level officials.

Speaking at the event, the MP stressed on the importance for active participation of people of the area to ensure successful implementation of a model village.

They local populace must exhibit good gesture in hospitality and ways of approach, besides contributing their mite towards better sanitation, to achieve the goal of exemplary models be it socially, economically, culturally and intellectually, he said.

Dr Pfoze also announced release of Rs 10 lakh as the first phase funding for development of the model village and further informed that he had written to the ministry concerned for setting up of JNV and KV in Kakching district as well as proposal to establish Kakching District Hospital to the centre.

Elaborating the rationale for adopting Pallel Gram Panchayat as Model village, he said, Pallel is a unique area as Meiteis, Meitei-Pangal and other tribal communities had been coexisting peacefully since ages.

Pallel Gram Panchayat Model village includes three villages namely Sora, Pallel and Bijoypur.

Kakching deputy commissioner Somorjit Salam, who also attended the event, delivered the welcome address and he expressed his gratitude to the MP for selecting Pallel Gram Panchayat as Model village.

He urged the people of the area to actively participate in maintaining the status of being a model village in all spheres and suggested that a village development plan be prepared by the district administration considering the criteria for model village.

SAGY state nodal officer Kh Ibochouba Singh, in his keynote address, said that the Yojana is a rural development programme broadly focusing upon the development in the villages in eight sectors which includes personal development, social development, human development, economic development, environmental development, social security, basic amenities and good governance.

It was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on October 11, 2014, he informed that gathering.

Apart from Kakching MLA M Rameshwar Singh, who presided over the function, Kakching Zila Parishad Up-Adhyaksha Md Nazimud-din, Pallel Gram Panchayat pradhan Md Mukimuddin and Pallel Gram Panchayat up-pradhan S Joikumar also attended the event as guests of honour.

District level officers, members of Pallel Gram Panchayat and invitees also took part at the historic launch function of model village at Pallel.

As part of the programme, Thang-ta performance was presented by Kha Manipur Thang-ta Academy, Pallel.
