Govt will monitor construction of Anganwadi Centres: Ibobi

Imphal, March 01 2014 : Chief Minister Okram Ibobi has said that the State Government would be closely monitoring construction of Anganwadi Centres across the State.

He was replying to a query raised by MLA Kh Joykishan during the Question Hour of the ongoing 7th Session of 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly yesterday.

Ibobi further said that construction of Anganwadi Centres under the 4th Phase has been completed in six districts of the State namely Chandel, Tamenglong, Churachandpur, Ukhrul, Bishnupur and Senapati as per the report submitted by the District Programme Officers concerned.

Replying to a question of MLA Nunglur Victor, Chief Minister Ibobi said that Manipur Development Society (MDS) is the work agency for the construction of Mini Sports Complex at Chandel District Headquarters.

The total cost of construction is Rs.1618 lakh, out of which Rs.1587.83 lakh has been sanctioned.

The complex is targeted to be complete by December this year, he added.

To a query of MLA Y Erabot, Revenue Minister Th Devendra said that there are 33 revenue villages in Imphal area, out of which 22 villages are in Imphal West and 11 in Imphal East.

Responding to a query of MLA Shyamkumar, Veterinary & Animal Husbandry Minister K Govindas said that there are 163 veterinary doctors under the State Veterinary Department.

Answering to a question of MLA P Brojen, Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam said that there is no question of lifting the existing norm of seeking security clearance by MLAs while going to their respective constituencies.

The step has been taken up in view of the present law and order situation of the State.

Additional escorts have been provided to MLAs during their tours and programmes beyond Greater Imphal.

There had been instances of arms and ammunitions being hijacked from the escort personnel of some MLAs, he noted.

To another question of MLA Joykishan, Chief Minister Okram Ibobi said that some primary teachers have been enjoying higher pay scale of graduate teachers without the approval of Finance and Administrative Departments.

The AG Office is opposing pension based on the higher pay scale for some of those retired primary teachers.
