Left and Secular Alliance formed

The formation of Left and Secular Alliance (LSA), a non Congress and non BJP bloc in Manipur was declared to the people of Manipur by Sudhakar Reddy, general secretary of the Communist Party of India at a well attended meeting at Classic Sangai Hall here yesterday.
Kshetrimayum Santa of CPI(M), Manipur has also been elected as Convenor of LSA with Dr M Nara Singh and L Thoiren of Communist Party of India, Sarat Salam of Communist Party of India Marxist, M Tombi Singh and Liemjalet Haokip of Janata Dal- United, Kh Gyaneshwor Singh and Apanthoi Mangang of All India Forward Bloc, Manihar Goswani and L Loken of Janata Dal (Secular), N Ratan Meitei and K Manoranjan of Revolutionary Socialist Party, N Kabita Devi and K Sangita Deci of Bahujan Samaj Party, L Seth and Thaiba Sanii of People Democratic Alliance and S Samungou Singh and W Iboyaima Luwang of Sev Sena as members of the constituent parties.
Issuing a statement in this regard, Kshetrimayum Santa said that the LSA will draft a common minimum program which will include strengthening of democratic frameworks, ending of corruption and ensuring a government accountable to people, establishment of a firm secular order and people oriented development path, setting up a true federal system also to safeguard the territorial integrity of Manipur, etc.
The bloc will be an alternative to the present Congress government and it will fight for the defeat of Congress and also to isolate BJP.
On behalf of the leadership of LSA Manipur, Santa also appealed to the non Congress non BJP political parties and patriotic forces of Manipur to join in the fight for the defeat of Congress and to isolate BJP in the state of Manipur.
