Imphal, March 01 2014 :
Normal life in some areas of the State has been thrown out of gear because of the 48 hours Mayai Lambi called since last midnight in protest against the controversial death of Digbijoy.
Since early morning today, large groups of bandh supporters came out and blocked along Mayai Lambi at Wan-goi.
Some bandh supporters even lobbed a molotov cocktail at Wangoi police station at around 10.30 am but it did no cause any major damage.
Even as police fired several rounds of tear gas shells to drive away the bandh supporters, they congregated at Wangoi Keithel and set afire effigies of Wangoi PS OC Munal.
They demanded that the Government take up befitting action against the OC and the IO handling the case of arrest of Digbijoy and his subsequent death inside the PS.
It is reported that the JAC submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister yesterday urging for the same demands.
37 year old Thoudam Digbijoy of Wangoi Makha Leikai was found hung to death inside Wangoi police station on February 27 .
Meanwhile, post mortem of Digbijoy's corpse was conducted today at RIMS but the family is yet to claim the corpse.
