Good students needed for healthy society: Gaikhangam

It is very much essential to be a good student first in order to build a healthy society.
University alone is not the source of education but one could get vital knowledge and education from the nature itself, Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam has observed.
He was speaking as Chief Guest of the prize distribution function of the Mathematic & Science Competition organized by Social Development Organization (SODO) on November 1, 2013 at Konthoujam Kangjeibung Community Hall today.
Gaikhangam further pointed out that in older times teacher was collectively revered and addressed as 'Oja Guru' but nowadays the suffix 'Guru' has been excluded.
One needs to introspect why such change has taken place.
With the advancement in science and information technology, the role of computer in every field has been also increased.
Today, even the MLAs and Ministers need to be techno savvy to boost their activities and services, Gaikhangam noted.
Along with presenting the Best Student Award, prizes were distributed to altogether 105 students who took part in the competition.
Today's function was also attended by Lok Sabha Dr T Meinya, as President while Khundrakpam Menjor Mangang, National and International Awardee; Dr Sapam Ranjan, PCC Member of Konthoujam A/C; N Nilakumar, Convenor of OBC Department, MPCC; Chanam Bijenti, Member of Yurembam Zilla Parishad and Chingdinliu Kamei, Pradhan of Konthoujam GP as Guests of Honour.
