Relief items from American Bangladesh Manipuri Society distributed

Writers of Manipur, as part of its relief activities, distributed relief materials donated by the New York-based North American Bangladesh Manipuri Society (NABMS), to the inmates of Shyamasakhi Girls' High School relief camp on Friday.
Altogether 17 king-size blankets and 58 warmer clothes donated by NABMS along with food items contributed by Writers of Manipur were distributed to the inmates on Friday.
Writers, critics, scholars, film actors, theatre directors and Meira Paibi leaders like Irungbam Basanta, Yumlembam Ibomcha, Thokchom Ibohanbi, Lamabam Gojendra, Thokchom Binapani, Naorem Premila, RK Gyanranjan, Chongtham Subadani, Haobam Nalini, Thokchom Somorendra, Nahakpam Aruna, Moirangthem Borkeinya, Dilip Mayengbam, Soibam Indrakumar, Loitongam Brajamohon, Budha Chingtham, RK Nirmala and Aheibam Sunanda were present at the distribution programme.
Interacting with the media, Writers of Manipur convenor Nongmaithem Kirankumar said that the organisation has been providing relief materials in different parts of the state since the crisis broke out on May 3 with Friday's event being 60th such programme.
According to Sahitya Akademi award winning writer Birendrajit Naorem, Meeteis in Bangladesh, who have settled in North America, contributed the relief materials thereby underscoring that no matter where they live, Meeteis across the world will always come in support of their fellow Meeteis.
While expressing belief that such assistance will continue until the crisis is resolved, he informed that Writers of Manipur is also planning to continue up to 100th such programme.
He further said that the 5th phase of the relief assistance programme has also been launched from Friday.
Under this phase, the organisation will conduct 'Know your Writers' programme along with life blessing campaign at different localities.
Such programmes will be organised in coordination with local clubs and Meira Paibi Lups, he said, and sought the cooperation of all.
