Imphal, October 20 2023:
The JAC formed in connection with the Sega Road firing incident claimed that chief minister N Biren Singh has given assurance to arrest ex-BJYM president Manoharmayum Barish Sharma.
A 10-member delegation of the JAC formed in connection with the firing incident reportedly met chief minister N Biren on Friday.
Speaking to reporters after the said meeting, JAC convenor Chongtham Iboyaima informed that the chief minister was urged to arrest Barish, who is the prime accused in the firing incident and to recover the arms used by the perpetrators.
The chief minister during the meeting informed the JAC delegation that Manoharmayum Barish Sharma is not the president of BJYM and he is no way related with BJYM.
He will be arrested very soon and if he cannot be arrested a warrant arrest will be issued and see that his anticipatory bail is suspended.
If at all any of the BJYM members were found involved in the incident, they will be expelled/removed from their respective posts, the convenor quoted the CM as saying.
While stating that CM Biren assured of providing all possible help to the five injured victims, including a woman and a minor, Iboyaima cautioned of launching intense agitations along with the public if the assurance given by the chief minister is not translated into action at the earliest.
