Humanitarian aid extended

In continuation of the humanitarian aid extended to the people affected by the present crisis in Manipur, Writers of Manipur today provided blankets and other relief materials to the internally displaced people (IDP) taking shelter at the relief camp set up in Shyamsakhi High School, Imphal.
The relief items were sponsored by North American Bangladesh Manipuri Society, New York.
The relief materials distribution programme was attended by Irungbam Basanta, Yumlembam Ibomcha, Thokchom Ibohanbi, Lamabam Gojendra, Thokchom Binapani, Naorem Premila, RK Gyanaranjan, Chongtham Subadani, Haobam Nalini, Thokchom Somorendra, Nahakpam Aruna, Moirangthem Barkeinya, Dilip Mayengbam, Soibam Indrakumar, Loitongbam Brajamohon, Budha Chingtham, RK Nirmala, Aheibam Sunanda and other prominent writers, critics, scholars, film actors, theatre directors, columnists and Meira Paibis.

At the event, Nongmaithem Kirankumar, convenor of the relief camp, extended his gratitude and appreciation to the Writers of Manipur and North American Bangladesh Manipuri Society for their concern and generous assistance to the IDP which will provide some relief & alleviate their problems caused by the prevailing tense situation.
Meanwhile, the Sagolband Constituency Progressive Committee (SCPC) under the supervision of local MLA RK Imo Singh, has resumed providing financial assistance of Rs 20,000 to individuals battling cancer, kidney & heart diseases after a five months hiatus.
In a release, SCPC informed that members of the committee have visited families across all four wards in the area to ensure their support reaches those in need.
Altogether, aid was given to nine patients from across Sagolband AC today, bringing the cumulative count to 187 so far.
