State PwDs join regional consultation on 'Disable People in Politics'

Two People with Disabilities (PwDs) of the state participated in the Northeast Regional Consultation on 'Disable People in Politics' jointly organised by Shishu Sarothi along with National Centre for Promotion of Employment for Disabled People (NCPEDP) in Guwahati, Assam on March 27.A statement issued by Spastic Society of Manipur informed thatr two PwDs of the state namely, locomotor disabled Mutum Tombimacha and visual impaired Konsam Sadananada participated in the consultation during which many manifestos concerning the PwDs with regards to the ensuing election were discussed.
The event was attended by around 100 delegates from different states of Northeast India.
The main manifesto discussed during the programme included 5% reservation for disabled population in various budgetary allocations of various programmes; provision of apt health insurance policies to disabled people; provision of pension of 5,000 per month to the disabled community members; provision of jobs for disabled people at small, medium and large scale enterprises; to encourage involvement of PwDs in the socio-political issues by amending Article 15 of the Constitution so as to implement 5% seat reservation for disabled persons in the Rajya Sabha.
