SHRI observes National Pharmacovigilance Week

Shija Hospitals & Research Institute (SHRI) observed the 3rd National Pharmacovigilance Week at its Langol auditorium, on Saturday.
The theme of this year's National Pharmacovigilance Week, which is "Boosting Public Confidence in Pharmacovigilance", is aimed at fostering a culture of patient-centricity and safety across the nation.
The event was attended by various healthcare experts, including nurses, doctors (including Resident Medical Officers), technicians, and pharmacists of SHRI.
The event began with SHRI Pharmacy assistant manager L Chinglemba welcoming the attendees and emphasising the importance of pharmacovigilance in modern healthcare to avoid medication errors followed by Shija Academy of Health Sciences (SAHS) assistant professor Dr Neeraj Sharma highlighting the crucial role of Pharmacovigilance in patient safety and monitoring of Adverse Drug Reactions (ADR), while JNIMS' Dr Kh Deepak Singh shared insights into the current pharmacovigilance landscape and walked the audience through the process of adverse drug reactions reporting.
SAHS guest faculty member Dr Joychandra Singh emphasised on relevance of pharmacovigilance education and awareness amongst caregivers of ADR and adverse drug reaction events reporting as SHRI Pharmacovigilance Centre AGM-Quality & deputy coordinator H Surjikumari Devi thanked participants for their contributions to drug safety to conclude the event.
Pharmacovigilance, a crucial component of modern healthcare, revolves around the detection, assessment, understanding, and prevention of adverse effects and other drug-related problems.
