Governor vows to aid IDPs return to ancestral homes

Governor Anusuiya Uikey visited three relief camps in Kakching and Thoubal districts on Monday and distributed essentials to 1,231 Internally Displaced People (IDPs) residing in the camps.
The distribution of relief materials was facilitated by the district Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) team led by Dr Rajkumar and Dr Ksh Manglem.
Relief packages, including blankets, mosquito nets, hygiene kits, and tarpaulins, were provided to each family in the relief camps.
Additionally, a financial assistance of Rs 1000 each was given to pregnant women, lactating mothers, and patients with serious ailments.
Edibles were also distributed to the children in the relief camps.
The relief materials were sent by IRCS, Delhi HQs and distributed to the IDP families through IRCS, Manipur under the guidance of the Governor.
The Governor's first visit was to Khomdonbi Memorial English School relief camp in Kakching district, where she was welcomed by MLAs K Ranjit & Th Lokeshwor, and DC Kakching.
The Governor inquired about the grievances faced by 291 IDPs, mostly from Sugnu, Serou, Chakpikarong, Napat, and Kumbi areas, who are sheltered there.
After patient hearing of the complaints raised by the IDPs, the Governor assured them of support from the district admin istration and government.
She emphasised the government's goal of restoring peace and normalcy to facilitate their safe return to their respective places.
The Governor stated that the central and state governments are making every effort to restore peace and normalcy.
Security forces are deployed, and vigilant measures are in place to prevent untoward incidents.
She urged all stakeholders, especially the youth, to refrain from indulging in violence and cooperate with the government in restoring peace and normalcy in the state.
She also mentioned about her meeting with President of India Droupadi Murmu, who is also the president of Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), in New Delhi last month.
She had urged the President to provide relief materials to the violence-affected people of Manipur, which was approved and sent to Imphal.
She personally donated Rs 5000 to the camp for amusement and recreational purposes.
The Governor then visited the relief camp opened at the Indoor Stadium in Kakching district headquarters, where she met IDPs and inquired about the facilities provided to 270 IDPs belonging to 68 families from Moreh, Serou, and Churachandpur.
She reiterated the ongoing efforts to restore peace and normalcy in the state, urging both communities to engage in dialogue to end the conflict.
She stressed that violence and bloodshed would only breed enmity, while advocating for a peaceful resolution to the situation.
Representatives of IRCS Kakching district branch distributed relief materials to the IDP families.
On her way back to Imphal, the Governor visited Kodompokpi Sports Complex relief camp at Wangjing in Thoubal district.
She listened to the grievances and issues of 730 IDPs belonging to 213 families from Moreh and Serou areas.
She assured them of all possible support to facilitate their return to their respective places and directed the district administration to fulfil their requirements.
On behalf of the Governor, representatives of IRCS Thoubal district branch led by Dr Ksh Manglem distributed the relief materials to the IDP families.
