Haobam Newton said that the unfortunate incident would have been averted had the authorities took measures to clean the sediment deposits which were brought by the recent flood water to the village ponds.
Still many villagers at Khoijumantabi and its surrounding villages are facing various problems following the recent flood which destroyed hundreds of houses and paddy fields, said Bobby James.
He said that the Government is responsible for the death of the three minor girls since it failed to take measures to control post flood effects in the affected areas.
