Sadar Hills bodies support UNC bandh

, SEP 3 (HNS): Civil Society Organizations of Sadar Hills including Kuki Inpi Sadar Hills, Kuki Women Union, KSO and TSA on Thursday decided to support United Naga Council (UNC) called 48-hour highways bandh within Sadar Hills area.
The organisations have also decided to hold a protest sit-in on Friday at Kangpokpi.
The UNC had called the 48-hour highways bandh starting from midnight of Thursday in protest against the passing of three Bills .
Spokesperson of Sadar Hills civil society organisations Lamcha Chongloi said that the decision to support the bandh was taken at a joint meeting held at Kangpokpi.
He said that any vehicular movement along the highway will be strictly restricted during the bandh.
However, educational institutions, media and emergency services will be exempted from the purview of the bandh, said Lamcha Chongloi while adding that any bandh defaulters will face dire consequences for which the organisations will not be held responsible.
He also asserted that the tribal people of Sadar Hills will oppose the three Bills "tooth and nail" as desired by the people.
Various "anti-tribal approach" and "anti-tribal Government activities" undermined the rights and privilege of the tribals through various forms and mechanism have now united the tribal people in the State, said Lamcha Chongloi.
Meanwhile, offering condolence to the family members of those killed in the Churachandpur protest, the Sadar Hills bodies have questioned the Chief Minister and Home Minister on the use of "live bullets" to suppress the agitators in the hills.
The bodies asked the Centre to impose President's Rule in the State.
