Imphal, June 07:
The High Powered Committee set up under the Manipur Public Servant Personal Liability Act with Chief Secretary as its chairman has directed the Executive Engineer of Public Works Department to pay salary of an employee who has been allowed to work in the Department even after superannuation, from his own pocket.
The directive was given after a meeting of the High Powered Committee yesterday.
Following a complaint lodged by the employee in question in connection with alleged denial of his salary, the Committee investigated and found out that the said employee has been allowed continuation of service in the Department even after attainment of the age of superannuation.
Consequently, the Committee decided that the EE attached with the Mechanical Division of the Department has to pay salary of the employee from his own pocket.
The Executive Engineer has been charged with not informing his higher officials in connection with utilisation of the service of the employee after retirement.
In another case related to appointment of nine persons in the State TB Society under Health Department without approval of the Government, the Committee directed a former Secretary of the Department, one former Director and one member secretary of the Society to pay salary of these nine persons from their own sources.
During its meeting the Committee has also decided that an amount of around Rs 18 lakhs spent on construction work of some building portion taken up at the nursing school, Porompat which is under the Family Welfare, without the approval of the Government should be recovered from the principal of the said nursing institute.
Furthermore, in connection with alleged misutilisation of an amount of Rs 1.8 crores by an official who was the DDO in-charge of the Veterinary and Animal Husbandry, the meeting of the Committee recommended recovery of an amount of Rs 53 lakhs calculating from 2006 either from the salary or the personal pocket of the official concerned in evocation of the provisions under the Manipur Public Servant Personal Liability Act.
