Imphal, June 07:
Reaffirming its resolution to seek transfer of Senapati district's Deputy Commissioner Nidhi Kesarwani, the Naga People's Organisation (NPO) has called district total bandh with effect from June 11 midnight till June 12 midnight.
A press release issued by NPO informed that the ultimatum it served for transfer of the DC was based on the resolution passed during its presidential meeting attended by tribe presidents and executives of NPO Senapati and public leaders on May 31 .
Maintaining that the decision of the presidential meeting will remain firm, it clarified that except for the post of vice-president all the posts of NPO have been filled up along with two customary court members.
Dismissing those persons whom the media met on June 6 at MNEDA office, Senapati as a gang of opportunists, the NPO remarked that it would be unfortunate on the part of the DC if she lure and use some alleged self-centred persons/groups by awarding contract work/scheme under DRDA and promising to help them in future.
Such measures would not save her, it cautioned.
At a meeting held today, the president of the SDSA has also clarified that he was misquoted and that he did not utter a single word allegation against the NPO, claimed the NPO.
The meeting held with all the five unit tribes and executives resolved that the NPO shall not rest until Nidhi Kesarwani is transferred from Senapati district.
The decision to call bandh was also adopted in the meeting, it conveyed.
All business establishments, vehicular movement shall not be allowed to operate during the bandh.
However, education institutions will be exempted from the purview of the bandh, it informed.
The NPO further clarified that it has no allegation against the DC regarding PDS items.
