Imphal, June 07:
Even as the NPO's ultimatum to transfer away Deputy Commissioner of Senapati district expired today, the Lochovoh Self Help Group, Sakhavel Self Help Group and Unemployed Women SHG, all based in Senapati district, have raised strong objection to the NPO's demand.
A joint press release issued by the three SHGs asserted that boycotting and demanding transfer of the DC who has been posted in the district very recently by the NPO and the SDSA is irrational.
Till date, there has been no fault or lapse on the part of the DC.
Rather the DC is focusing on proper implementation of different welfare schemes and stream-lining district administration, it said.
Unlike many other preceding DCs, Nidhi Kesarwani is more justice oriented and has due concern for the poor and downtrodden, the SHGs observed.
Within a short period of Nidhi Kesarwani assuming office, there have been some positive changes in the district administration which demonstrates her commitment to the cause of the district.
Stating that no one should disrupt smooth functioning of the district administration just to achieve his/her vested interest, it called upon leaders of various social organisations, tribal organisations and the general public to contemplate rationally and understand the reality.
The SHGs also appealed to all to extend full cooperation to the Deputy Commissioner for progressive development of the district while asking the Government not to transfer the incumbent DC from Senapati district.
In the same vein, the United Naga Organisation, Saikul Block, Senapati district has appealed to all concerned public leaders and organisations to reconsider the decision adopted against Deputy Commissioner Nidhi Kesarwani and also the subsequent demand for her transfer.
A press release issued by the Union observed that it would be premature to judge performance of the DC who has been posted in the district only for a few months.
It is also not the appropriate time to demand the DC's transfer when such noble development programmes like NREGS is underway.
While hailing the stand of the DC on the issue of PDS rice, the Union appealed to all to extend cooperation to the DC for better administration of the district.
