Sophia Sahania represents Manipur at Parliament event

Imphal, October 04 2022: Sophia Sahania, daughter of Md Anawar Ali of Irong Chesaba in Thoubal district, represented Manipur in a programme called "Participation of Youth of our country in paying homage to our National Leaders on their Birth Anniversary in The Parliament House" organised by Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports in coordination with Lok Sabha Secretariat in connection with the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri held on October 2.In a release, NYK, Thoubal district youth officer Michael Thangminlien Mate informed that 100 youths were invited from across the country of which 35 were sent by Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS) and 30 of them had the opportunity to speak for 3 minutes each on the life and contributions of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri.

As part of the NYKS contingent, Sophia Sahania represented Manipur to pay homage to national leaders in the Parliament House, he said.

The officer further informed that Sophia was selected as the winner of the State Level National Youth Parliament 2022 organised by NYKS Manipur in February 2022 under the aegis of MoYAS.

She had also represented Manipur at the National Youth Parliament 2021 organised by NYKS in January 2021.Sophia Sahania is a dynamic youth-leader taking active part in many activities of NYKS and was also one of the district level winners of Declamation Contest organised by NYK Thoubal in December 2021, the release mentioned.

The Parliament House event on October 2 was also attended by the Prime Minister, the Lok Sabha Speaker, Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Minister of Education, Defence Minister, Minister of Commerce and Industry and Congress party president among other esteemed members of the Parliament.
