JCILPS-Govt 3rd round talk today

Imphal, August 18 2015: After the Manipur Government gave a green signal to incorporate the five points recommended by the Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) in the new ILPS Draft Bill, the Joint Committee has decided to hold the third round of talks with the Government on Wednesday (August 19) .

The decision was announced by JCILPS Convener-in-Charge Khomdram Ratan during a press meet at AMSU Headquarters, DM Campus here on Tuesday.

Kh Ratan said that the decision to take part in the next meeting with the Government was taken during a meeting attended by leaders from many civil society organisations, JCILPS Students' Wing, Women Wing and Meira Paibis after the Govt recently gave a positive signal to include the five points in the new draft Bill.

While urging the public to continue the ongoing ILPS mass movement in a democratic way, Ratan also appealed to all the supporters and agitators to kindly follow the instructions framed by the Joint Committee while protesting.

The convener-in-charge also regretted the inconveniences caused to the public due to imposition of flash bands and blockades on major roads and appealed for desisting from such type of agitations.

Government offices should be shut down to pressurize the Government so as to implement an ILPS Bill or similar in the State to protect the indigenous people, urged Ratan.

Meanwhile, Ratan expressed shock over Tuesday's violent incident in Moreh and appealed to the State Government to take up immediate necessary measures to avoid further unwanted incidents in the border town.

At the same time, he also appealed to all the leaders of different communities in the State to help restore peace and normalcy in Moreh.

JCILPS Co-Convenor and ILPS medical help line Convenor Somorendro confirmed that nearly 300 people have been injured till today in the ongoing ILPS mass movement.

While admitting that some of them are still undergoing treatment at RIMS and JNIMS, Somorendro said that the ILP medical help line sometimes failed to help injured people in several other areas.
