Imphal, August 18 2015:
Manipur University Students' Union (MUSU) has launched a class boycott stir from today in support of the movement demanding the implementation of ILPS or similar mechanism to check influx of non-locals in Manipur.
The class boycott stir will be effective till the State Government comes out with a fresh Bill for the protection of indigenous people of the State.
Speaking to media persons today at the University premises, president of MUSU David said that the ILPS demand movement is not only for just one specific community but for all.
He asserted that without a legislation to regulate migrant influx in the State there will be no 'right to life' and without it 'right to education' will be insignificant.
He urged all the students of the university to refrain from attending any form of class.
It may be mentioned here that all educational institutions and colleges in the State capital have remained shut owing to the mass movement for over the last one month.
Further, David said that the concerned department of the State should give befitting punishment to those involved in the killing of Sapam Robinhood who died in police action on July 8 .
The administration of the university will not however be affected by the class boycott stir, the MUSU president added.
