Imphal, December 17 2009: The team of Confederation of Democratic Rights Organization (CDRO) who visited the state to investigate into the recent July 23 shooting incident that claimed life two persons and recent indiscriminating firing by Assam Rifles at Khoirupok village in Ukhrul district injuring to two villagers today assured for delivering justice to the incident, they are ready to go to Supreme Court of India.

Confederation of Democratic Rights Organization (CDRO) is a non-governmental body formed to investigate into the cases across the country which related with the violation of human rights.

Nineteen civil organizations for Human Rights across the country are the members of the body.

A team comprising of 15 members are coming here as part of visiting the North-East region.

Out of the 15 members, five members are now visiting the state of Manipur.

The team is led by Kranti Chatanya, general secretary of Andhra Pradesh Civil Liberties Committee (APCLC) and also organizing secretary, Confederation of Democratic Rights Organization (CDRO).

The five-member CDRO team is in Imphal today in a four-day visit to the state in their 'fact-finding' mission on the rampant reports of extra-judicial killings in Manipur.

Speaking to media persons at Hotel Nirmala today, the team leader said that they are coming here in Imphal specially to investigate into the case of July 23 incident in which two persons, former underground Ch Sanjit and young pregnant housewife Th Rabina were killed and injure to five other civilians in the alleged firing by the police commandos at Khwairamband Bazar and December 4 incident of inflicting injuries to two villagers of Khorupok in alleged indiscriminate firing by the Assam Rifles.

Observing that till that state government is not fulfilling any of the demand of the JACs formed in connection with the incident except suspension of the seven police commandos involved in the shooting incident.

He further said that they body has no faith with the judicial inquiry conducting by One-Man Commission (Agarwal Commission of Inquiry).

The institution of the commission is part of the government strategy to suppress people's moment.

A total of about 260 people have been allegedly killed by the security forces in the state during the current year 2009, Kranti Chatanya observed and accused the state government for not having registered even a single case with the state Human Rights Commission despite the fact that the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) had issued guidelines in the year 2006 to register any extra judicial killings or any killing by security forces.

He added that the state government requires registration of a case with the State Human Rights Commission in this regard.

He also demanded repeal of Armed Forces Special Power Act (AFSPA-1958), National Security Act (NSA) asking the government to release the people who were arrested under NSA Act when they were agitating in a democratic way in the wake of July 23 shootout at Imphal.

Criticizing the government for intervention into the investigation of the Manipur Human Rights Commission (MHRC) into the July 23 incident, the team observed that people here have more faith in the inquiry conducted by the MHRC than the government's one man commission judicial inquiry.

Kranti also demanded the government to withdraw the stay order of the MHRC inquiry.

The CDRO team also demanded the government to compensate all the medical charges of the two people injured in the alleged indiscriminate firing of December 4 at Khuroipok village in Ukhrul district Manipur.

They also expressed deep concern for the children of the Khuroipok village who were under trauma following the firing by the security forces in the village.
