State records warmest December in five years

Imphal, December 09 2022: As the temperature continues to rise every year due to global warm ing and climate change, this year's December has become the warmest in the last five years.

At the same time, this winter recorded fluctuating temperature ranges.

In all, one can experience warmer November and December this year as compared to the corresponding months last year by one or two degrees.

As per data received from Grameen Krishi Mausam Seva, Indian Council of Agricultural Research Complex, Lamphelpat, November 1, 2021 recorded 28.1 degree Celsius high and 16.5 degree Celsius low.

On the other hand, November 1 this year recorded 29.8 degree Celsius high and 14.6 degree Celsius low.

December 1 this year recorded 28.1 degree Celsius high and became the highest bar recorded during the current month.

On the other hand, December 9 recorded 9 degree Celsius and became the coldest day of the current month so far.

December 29, 2017 recorded 24.9 degree Celsius high and 6.4 degree Celsius low, which became the coldest day of December of that year.

In 2019, December 1 recorded 24.9 degree Celsius high, 2.6 degree Celsius low and became the coldest day of December of that year.

In 2019, December 1 recorded 25 degree Celsius and became the hottest day while December 25 recorded 2.5 degree Celsius low and became the chilliest day of December of that year.

In 2020, December 25.9 recorded 25.9 degree Celsius high and became the warmest day of that year while December 29 recorded 3.1 degree Celsius low and became the coldest day of December of that year.

In 2021, December 5 recorded 26.1 degree Celsius high and became the warmest day while December 28 recorded 6.2 degree Celsius low to become the coldest day of December of that year.

Based on the data of the last five years, the latter half of December gets colder than the first half.

This year too, December 9 has been recorded as the coldest day for the current month so far.

Given the progression of cold weather, it is likely to experience chilly Christmas and New Year.

However, the data clearly indicates rise in the overall temperature in the last five years.
