Minister advises doctors, nurses to work diligently

Health & IPR Minister Dr S Ranjan Singh has appealed to doctors and nurses to sincerely perform their duties and try to ensure there is no complaints from the people.
On Saturday, the health minister inaugurated a Barrack Type Quarters and Digital X-Ray of Community Health Centre (CHC), Khumbong during a function jointly organised by National Health Mission (NHM), Manipur and Directorate of Health Services, Manipur.
Presided over by Health Services director Dr Kh Sa-sheekumar Mangang; the inaugural function was also attended by SMD, NHM Manipur Dr Somorjit Ningombam; Health joint secretary Y Suraj Singh; and BJP Konthoujam Mandal president Lalkanhai Sharma as guests of honour.
Speaking as chief guest of the function, minister Dr Ranjan informed that as a pilot project, Digital X-Rays will be introduced in district hospitals and other selective health centres of the state.
Digitisation of the conventional X-Ray at CHC Khumbong will now benefit the people of Khumbong and its surroundings, while the Barrack Type Quarters will serve as an accommodation for staff of the CHC.
He also assured that an OPD Block would be added to the CHC within 1.5-2 years and people in and around Khumbong will be able to avail treatment and tests free of cost.
He urged the people to contact him if any hospital is demanding money, and also to record all relevant conversations, while adding that necessary action will be taken up within one minute.
While the Digital X-Ray at Nambol PHC will become functional in 10 days, those at Nungba, Sugnu, Tamenglong, Ukhrul, Chandel and Bishnupur will also become functional soon, thereby helping to improve health services in the state.
Presently, there are around 53 health centres in the state with X-Ray facilities.
These centres will have digitised X-Rays within a period of one year.
The government is also planning to install ultrasound machines and appoint sonologists at all CHCs so that people do not have to go to Imphal for simple tests, he informed.
The minister continued that the digital X-rays are different from the previous machines as the results can be obtained instantaneously.
He then maintained that with the advancement of medical technology, a system has been set to maintain the medical records in a simpler way, thereby solving the problem of misplacement of X-ray records.
Ayushman Bharat Health Account has been introduced and it will be made functional soon.
On top of this, patients would be able to view the X-ray films right on their mobile phones, apart from making it easier to compare previous records with the latest films.
Quality check and assurance of the free diagnostic will be achieved through such process of digitisation, he said.
Informing that all government hospitals are providing free medicines, Ranjan stressed on effective delivery of free medicines to the people and prevent the same from going to waste due to expiration, adding that the MOs in-charge, MOs and pharmacists have a huge role to play in this regard.
The government is trying its level best to provide affordable and accessible health care to all people in all districts of Manipur, as an objective of the state Health Department, he added.
Regarding complaints of non-opening of gates early morning, the minister urged all concerned not to repeat such acts in the future.
The medical profession is a 24-hour service, he pointed out, adding that most programmes and functions of the Health Department have important meanings.
Stating that the government is doing its best to develop all sectors, Ranjan said that there has been development in many sectors during the recent past.
The effort of the government is for the survival of our future.
Health cards have become a boon and tremendously benefited the people.
The CM Biren-led state BJP government is working day and night for the welfare of the public, while keeping their interests, sentiments and future in mind.
In addition, the central government is in constant communication with the CM to address any difficulties faced by Manipur and also to protect the indigenous population of the state, he conveyed.
Later, the health minister inaugurated the Health & Wellness Centre, Heigrujam.
CMO Imphal East Dr L Joykumar Singh, officials and staffs of Health Department, doctors, nurses and staff of CHC Khumbong, ASHAs, local leaders and others also attended the inauguration function.
