Unless the people of the state gain economic independence, the state would be under the control of others even as some struggle hard to gain the political independence of the state, said MLA Ng Bijoy.
Ng Bijoy was speaking as the chief guest on the third day of the 56th All India Cooperative Week observance which underway at the District Cooperative Office here under the aegis of Manipur State Cooperative Union and District Cooperative Office and Zonal Offices, Imphal East.
MLA Ng Bijoy said the people of the state should be first bailed out from economic dependency.
The state government needs to promote the indigenous culture like 'Moirangphijan phi' 'potloi' so that the products sweep the markets beyond the state.
This will help the state to boost its economy.
He observed that the end users are not reached with the distribution of agriculture materials to farmers at subsidised rate.
He suggests that the tools be distributed through local clubs in order to ensure the materials reach the end-users.
The occasion was attended among others by Additional Registrar of Cooperative Societies, N Jugeshore, president of Manipur State Cooperative Union, Kh Borkeshore, Managing Body members of Manipur State Cooperative Union, L Puinyapati, Md.Akbar Hussein, and L Lemba as the president and guests of honour respectively.
