Imphal, July 13 2015 :
While condemning the alleged racist action of Manipur police, Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System, Students' Wing has warned the State Govt to immediately pass a new bill which will protect the indigenous communities of Manipur.
Various indigenous communities of Manipur have been continuously launching agitation against the govt to introduce an ILPS bill which can protect the indigenous people, said a press release by co-convener of JCILPS Students' Wing.
After taking more than seven months to discuss the issue with suggestions from intellectuals, legal experts, senior politicians and scholars, it was recommended to pass a bill in favour of the indigenous people.
But contrary to the recommendation, Manipur Govt passed the controversial "Manipur Regulation of Visitors, Tenants and Migrant Workers Bill, 2015" on March 16 last in support of non-locals, added the statement.
While condemning the 57 MLAs of the State who have failed to express their grief on the death of Sapam Robinhood in the just concluded Manipur Legislative Assembly, the statement also said that not a single drop of indigenous blood is run in their veins.
"They will be spitted on their face by future generation" said the JCILPS Student Wing while questioning the Govt for shutting down all schools and colleges and imposing indefinite curfew.
The statement also demanded the MLAs to resign and expressed the urgent need to curb the State forces who are harassing innocent public in the ongoing mass ILP movement.
