Youth thrashed, made to interpret ILP as 'Ima Lairik Paningde'
Kyamgei locals lodge strong protest

Security personnel of Kakwa police station allegedly thrashed a protester last midnight around 12:30 am for demonstrating against the State Government and demanding implementation of Inner Line Permit System in Manipur.
Amom Wangthoi (19) s/o A Basanta of Kyamgei Maning Leikai was one of the many protesters who took part in a rally last night along the IB Road showing their support for ILP movement in the State.
He along with four other persons were caught by security persons for violating the curfew.
Later he was dragged on the road and made to swim in the drain for violating the curfew and was severely thrashed at Kakwa police station.
Protesting against such high handed actions of the security persons, locals of Kyamgei held a public meeting at Kyamgei Heibong Makhong demanding stringent action from authorities concerned.
Speaking to media persons, Wangthoi said that after all the security persons in the Kakwa police station beat him black and blue and dunked him in water, one ASI further tortured him by kicking him on his face and hitting him with a helmet on his head.
He said that he was forced to interpret ILP as 'Ima Lairik Paningde' showing disrespect to the Statewide movement which is for the benefit of all.
Showing their anger against such inhuman behaviour from security personnel, secretary of All Kyamgei Apunba Chaokhat Thourang Lup A Ibeyaima said that such act must be condemned by everyone and added that using such methods to crackdown on protesters is against the law.
She added that the people of Kyamgei will further support the ILP movement and threatened to start various forms of agitation if the authorities concerned fail to give befitting punishment to security personnel involved in such acts.
