Imphal, July 13 2015 :
Even as the district administrations of Imphal East and Imphal West have further relaxed curfew in the two districts from 5 am till 4 pm tomorrow, the JCILPS has reiterated its 17 hours general strike called earlier.
According to notifications issued by the respective District Magistrates of Imphal East and Imphal West, curfew has been further relaxed from 5 am till 4 pm tomorrow.
However restrictions under Section 144 of the CrPC 1973 will continue to remain in force, said the notification.
Restrictions will apply to assembly of five or more persons which is likely to turn unlawful, said the notification and added that prohibition has also been placed on carrying of sticks, stones, fire arms and weapons and objects which can be used as weapons, added the notification.
On the other hand, the JCILPS has announced that the general strike will go ahead as pronounced earlier.
The general strike will come into effect from 5 am and go till 7 pm tomorrow, said JCILPS in a statement today.
Stating that the people's movement will continue, JCILPS in the statement said that the protest movement will continue as long as the demand of the people to roll back the MRVTMW Bill is fulfilled and a suitable Bill passed to protect the local people.
Even though the Government has assured that the MRVTMW Bill will be withdrawn during a special session of the Assembly on July 15, the JCILPS has little faith in the assurance.
What the people want is withdrawal of the said Bill and the passing of a fresh Bill to protect the indigenous people of the land.
As such the Assembly should adopt a resolution to protect the indigenous people and till such time, the protest movement will continue, added JCILPS.
