Four vying for Outer Manipur seat

Imphal, March 30 2024: Candidates for the 2-Out er Manipur Parliamentary Constituency seat, namely, Alfred K Arthur from INC; Kachui Timothy Zimik from Naga People's Front (NPF), independent candidate Dr Alyson Abonmai and independent candidate S Kho John, filed their nomination papers to the Returning Officer concerned at Thoubal DC Office Complex.

During the scrutiny held on Thursday, the nomination papers of all four candidates were accepted.

While the deadline for withdrawal of nomination papers was set till 3 pm Saturday, none of the candidates withdrew their nomination.

According to a press release issued by the District Information Officer, Thoubal on Saturday, Independent candidate Alyson Abonmai has been alloted "Diamond" symbol while another Independent candidate S Kho John as "Trumpet" symbol.

The second phase of the polls will be conducted on April 26 and cover the constituencies of 40-Jiribam, 42-Tengnoupal, 43-Phungyar, 44-Ukhrul, 45-Chingai, 47-Karong, 48 Mao, 49-Tadubi, 52-Tamei, 53-Tamenglong, 54-Nungba, 55-Tipaimuk and 56-Thanlon.
