Imphal, January 13 2010: A combined team of Imphal west district police commandos and troops of 26 Assam Rifles and 39 Assam Rifles nabbed three cadres of the proscribed PLA and seized cache of arms and ammunition.

Parading the arrested cadres alongwith the recovered items in a press conference held at Imphal West Commando Complex today, Imphal West Additional SP AK Jhaljit said, the underground cadres were apprehended in a search operation conducted at Mayang Langjing Tamang and Taning areas on January 12 .

The cadres are identified as s/s Pvt Thamongjam Samson Singh (40) (army no 1613; trained in 1999) s/o Jugindro of Mayang Langjing Tamang, s/s L Cpl Huidrom Bhogen alias Chingkhei (28) (army no 2345; trained in 1995) s/o Ibo Meetei of Mana Ingkhol Mamang Leikai and Khuraijam Basanta Singh alias Kakabasan s/o late Shamugnou of Mayang Langjing Mamang Leikai.

Kakabasan is a hardcore member as well a 'money collector' of the outfit, AK Jhaljit said.

One AK-56 rifle with a magazine and 30 live bullets, one M-16 rifle with two magazines and 100 live bullets and two mobile handsets were recovered during the operation, added the Additional SP.

Samson was the first cadre netted by the combined team in the operation, he said adding that Kakabasan and Bhogen were later nabbed on Samson's disclosure at around 10:30 pm.

AK Jhaljit said that the arms and ammunition were recovered from near Kakabasan's house on their disclosure.

Reacting to PLA's allegation regarding harassment meted out to the locals of Mayang Langjing Taning and Tamang during the search operation, AK Jhaljit clarified that the combined security team did not harass the locals at all.

He further added that the operation was successfully conducted with the help of the locals.

The Additional SP further added, PLA's claim of retrieving the arms and ammunition by the outfit prior to launching of operation is baseless. 4 UGs held: In another incident, Imphal East district police commandos arrested one PREPAK cadre from Uyumpok Maning Leikai yesterday.

The cadres has been identified as Yengkhom Robi Singh (19) s/o Somani of the same locality.

One 9 mm pistol loaded with four live bullets in the magazine was seized from his possession, said a press release of Imphal East SP.

Further on the same day, the press release added, district police commandos arrested another PREPAK cadre namely, Keisham Nirpen Singh alias Sanayanba (24) s/o Raghu of Uyumpok Maning Leikai.

One .32 pistol loaded with two live bullets in the magazine was recovered from him.

A combined team of Bishnupur district police commandos and 4/8 Gorkha Regiment apprehended two KCP (MC) activists from Ningthoukhong and Moirang areas today.

The two individuals are Khundrakpam Ongbi Ibemcha (39) of Ningthoukhong Radha Mandap Leikai and Hemam Somen (29) of Moirang Hemam Leikai.

One 9 mm pistol loaded with five bullets was recovered from Somen.
