Now, CAPF exam in Manipuri language

Imphal, February 11 2024: In a move aimed at enhancing inclusivity and promoting regional languages, the Ministry of Home Affairs has allowed conduct of the Constable (General Duty) Examination for recruitment of constables in the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) in 13 regional languages, including Manipuri, in addition to Hindi and English.

The MHA decision means that candidates in Manipur can now appear the Constable (GD) examination for recruitment in the CAPFs in Manipuri language.

The Constable (GD) examination, scheduled to be held from February 20 to March 7, 2024, will have candidates across the country taking part in 128 cities, including Imphal.

This move comes as part of the initiative spearheaded by Union Home Minister Amit Shah to broaden the participation of regional youth in national security endeavours.

The MHA's decision to include Manipuri among the 13 regional languages, besides Hindi and English, underscores step towards embracing linguistic diversity and fostering a sense of belonging among candidates.

This initiative, facilitated through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Staff Selection Commission (SSC), signifies a collaborative effort to democratise access to employment opportunities.

The Constable (GD) Examination, a flagship test conducted by the SSC, attracts aspiring youths from all corners of the nation.

With Manipuri now among the languages in which question papers will be prepared, the reach of the examination is set to expand exponentially.

This move is poised to empower candidates to participate in the assessment in their mother tongue, thereby enhancing their understanding and improving their selection prospects.

By facilitating the examination in Manipuri, the government is not only bridging linguistic barriers but also nurturing talent at the grassroots level, ultimately bolstering the ranks of the Central Armed Police Forces with diverse and qualified personnel.

It is for the first time, that the Constable (General Duty) Examination for recruitment of constables in the CAPFs will be conducted in 13 regional languages in addition to Hindi and English.

In a statement on Sunday, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) said: "This historic decision has been taken on the initiative of Union Home Minister Amit Shah to increase the participation of local youth in the Central Armed Police Forces and to promote regional languages" .

The question papers for the examination will now also be prepared in Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Marathi, Malayalam, Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Odia.

Urdu, Punjabi, Manipuri and Konkani, said an MHA official.
