Imphal, February 11 2024:
The JAC formed in connection with the death of Akoijam Nonganba alias Aging of Kwakeithel Konjeng Awang Leikai, whose body was found in an isolated area under Kangpokpi district February 11 last year, has urged for handing over the case to the NIA to ensure justice is delivered.
In a press release, the JAC stated that the death of Nonganba, suspected to have killed by a top member of the NSCN-IM, completed the one-year mark.
However, there has been no headway in the case and the culprits yet to be punished according to the law of land.
As such, the family is yet to perform the one-year death anniversary ritual till date.
While the JAC appreciates the efforts made by the government in the case whether it was to question the three accused including NSCN-IM's Stephen and Moses or attempt to hand over the case to NIA, the next right step would be to hand over the case to NIA without delay.
Expressing gratitude to various CSOs, clubs, Meira Paibis and others who extended their support in the fight for finding the truth of the case, the JAC appealed to all concerned to continue extending support until the justice is delivered.
