Imphal, November 09 2022: Education Department signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Wednesday with Infosys Limited on implementation of Infosys Springboard in the presence of chief minister N Biren at the CM's secretariat cabinet hall, here.

Education minister Th Basanta Singh and MLA Sapam Kunjakeswor Singh were also present at the event.

The MoU was signed between Education (S) commissioner Gyan Prakash, Education (S) director L Nandakumar and Infosys Limited head (corporate affairs) Santhosh Ananthapura and senior vice president Infosys Ltd Thirumala Arohi.

The MoU is for enhancement of teaching-learning activities and effectiveness in teaching through technology aids under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) scheme of the IT company.

The scheme has both student and teacher-oriented components and is fully aligned with the National Education Policy 2020.Speaking at the programme, chief minister N Biren lauded the Infosys Ltd.

for the new venture and informed that a Rs 25 crore project as a part of CSR scheme of Infosys Ltd.' will be formed under National Education Policy, 2022 to give virtual training to schools in the state.

Stating that the National Education Policy is a remarkable policy, the chief minister said it has already been adopted in the state and the government is committed to extend support for its effective implementation.

N Biren also said that the government has launched some schemes and projects to improve education system in the state such as School Fagathansi Mission and Star Education.

Explaining about the School Fagathansi mission, the CM said it was initially taken up in 60 schools, one school selected from each of the 60 assembly constituencies.

The government has been trying to cover all the schools in the state under Infosys and 1000 mobile tablets will be distributed in the first phase, he continued, while recalling that the government previously distributed tablets to 1000 students.

As such, experts will provide virtual training to 2000-3000 students for the first phase.

According to Education director Nandakumar, Infosys is one of the largest software companies in the world.

Under CSR, it provides numerous online courses to the students and there are around 12,260 courses.

With signing of the MoU, teachers and students can write exams by freely logging on to the online courses and moreover certificates will also be provided, he continued.

The courses can be broadly divided into three categories namely IT school courses including photography, artificial intelligence, cybercrime, 5-G; human resource development and finance, Nandakumar explained, while adding that all details necessary will be displayed when any person having Google e-mail ID logs in by typing Infosys Springboard.'They can participate in the courses by simply registering it.

Under the scheme, the Infosys courses can be participated in all the government and private schools of the state.

As such, a series of training programmes will be conducted for teachers and students and training on how to log in will also be imparted, he added.

It is said that through the scheme, Infosys Springboard will provide a curriculum-rich virtual platform that delivers corporate-grade learning experiences, on any device, with closer educator learner collaboration for students from Class 6 to lifelong learners.

Under the scheme, the faculty development programme will consist of a series of sessions on the "Facilitate to Engage" course towards effective teaching techniques: instructional design and content creation; introduction and awareness to emerging and digital technologies, how to leverage online platform for effective learner engagement; authoring courses and assessments on online platforms.

The programme will be delivered online by Infosys experts and in addition, teachers can up-skill themselves.
