Imphal, August 30, 2012:
A young housewife passed away shortly after giving birth to a child at JNIMS Hospital last night with the deceased's husband alleging negligence by the doctors and refusing to claim the body.
The deceased woman has been identified as Ngangom Ongbi Renubala alias Indubala (25) w/o Ng Nanao (29) of Lousangkhong, under Lamlai police station in Imphal East district.
speaking to newspersons, Nanao said Renubala was admitted to the Hospital at around 8.30 pm yesterday and delivered a baby girl through Caesarian operation nearly two hours later.
After being wheeled out of the operation room, Renubala complained of abdominal pain and problem in passing urine, said the distraught husband adding that she breathed her last at about 5 am today.
About five days back when the last medical check-up was conducted at the OPD, doctors advised that Renubala be admitted to the Hospital on August 31 but she was taken to the hospital yesterday following health complication, Nanao maintained.
Asserting that all prescribed procedures such as regular health check-ups and medications were followed in addition to doctors at OPD duty suggesting that the delivery would be normal, Nanao demanded an explanation as to why Renubala had to deliver through CS procedure.
He further contended that Renubala had complained of dispassionate attitude and conduct of doctors during check-ups at OPD and even proposed that the baby be delivered at an alternative medical centre.
further stating that he declined to sign document regarding custody of the corpse, Nanao insisted that negligence by doctors resulted in Renubala's death.
in connection with the controversial demise of Renubala an emergency meeting was held at Lousangkhong this evening consequent to which a joint action committee has been formed to pursue the case.
