Thounaojam Chaoba Memorial Charitable Trust distributes pension at Langol Old Age Home

Imphal, October 23 2022: Thounaojam Chaoba Memorial Charitable Trust, Singjamei Thongam Leikai distributed pension for the month of October to the inmates of Langol Old Age Home today.

The day's effort was conducted as part of the Trust's ongoing initiative to distribute pensions and essential items to inmates of old age homes and orphanages across the State.

Attendees at the pension distribution function include Oinam Mangi, founder and chairman, Langol Old Age Home and social activist Oinam Sagar.

Speaking on the occasion, Thounaojam Roman, Managing Trustee, Thounaojam Chaoba Memorial Charitable Trust stated that the pensions were distributed not to gain any sort of fame but to provide some aid to the elderly residents of the old age homes.

He added that the pension scheme has been extended to those who do not receive old age pensions from the Government.

In the initial stage, the Trust was able to extend this pension scheme only in the Imphal area, but now the scheme has expanded to include other districts in the valley, he said.

Further, he shared that efforts are underway to extend this scheme in Kakching district as well as in the hill areas.

Thounaojam Roman then informed that the Trust does not receive any help from the Government and that the Trustees themselves donate their hard earned money in the Trust's fund.

The pensions are then distributed from this fund, he claimed.

He also touched upon the topic of mistreatment meted out to parents by their children in their old age and called for a change in this regard.

The Trust also admits the elderly inmates in hospitals when they happen to suffer from illnesses, he said.

In this regard, he shared that a request was made to former RIMS Director Professor A Santa and consequently, RIMS Hospital extended their support by treating the inmates free of cost and not charging them for any medical tests either.

Thounaojam Roman stated that a similar request will be made to RIMS Director Doctor L Ranjit and exuded confidence that their request will be received favourably.
