Imphal, August 10 2010:
One KCP (City Meitei) activist identified as Thiyam Heramani alias Sanayaima Singh (51) s/o late Th Gandhar Singh of Uripok Huidrom Leikai was arrested by Imphal West commandos from Uripok at about 11 am yesterday.
One .32 pistol with magazine having two live rounds and one Nokia mobile phone handset were seized from his possession, said a press release issued by SSP Imphal West L Kailun.
Thoubal police commandos also arrested one UNLF cadre identified as Khangembam Iboton (61) s/o late Kh Angomjao of Kumbi Laisanthong Mamang Leikai during a search operation at Sarik Lairou area at about 10.30 am yesterday.
On preliminary questioning, the individual disclosed that he is a bus time-keeper at Kumbi bus station and he had collected Rs 5,200 from the bus plying on Tidim road for the organisation, conveyed a press release issued by Thoubal SSP Clay Khongsai.
On the other hand, two cadres of KCP (KK Nganba) were apprehended by Imphal East commandos from Thambalkhong area at about 9 am yesterday.
A press release issued by Imphal East Addl SP (L/O) L Ibotombi identified the two cadres as Sarangthem Boboy (33) s/o S Khamba and Sarangthem David (42) s/o S Kulachandra, both belonging to Thambalkhong Leirak.
Meanwhile, troops of Red Shield Division arrested one KYKL cadre from Potshangbam and two women extortionists from Chingmei and Keibul.
KYKL's S/S Lance Corporal Kh Biten Singh (40) s/o K Tolangou of Potshangbam Mamang Leikai of Bishnupur was apprehended by troops of 4/8 Gorkha Rifles on August 9 .
In another incident, a joint team of 33 AR and Bishnupur police commandos along with Mahila Police Constables of Moirang police station carried out specific search and arrested one Salam Ibemcha alias Surbala (34) w/o late S Deva of Chingmei, Bishnupur district yesterday.
Following the arrest of Ibemcha, the joint team carried out further operation in Keibul leading to the arrest of Nongthombam Manileima (40) w/o late N Chandra of Keibul.
While Ibemcha is an over ground worker of PREPAK, both the women were involved in large scale extortion as well as recruitment of unemployed youth into UG outfits, said a PIB (DW) release.
