The government has asserted that stipends and other benefits will be withdrawn and initiate drastic actions against those militant outfits who are under the Suspension of Operation (SoO) who engage in extortions and other anti-social activities.
This was dwelt during the joint meeting of the top government officials and the representatives of the two umbrella organisations of the Kuki militant outfits-the United Peoples Front (UPF) and the Kuki National Organisation (KNO) today in Imphal.
Sources said that Home Secretary (North East in-charge) Naveen Verma, Manipur Director General of Police Y Joykumar, IGP (Intelligence) LM Khaute and high ranking army officials of the 57 Mountain Division and the leaders of the UPF and the KNO held a joint meeting today in Imphal on the issue of Suspension of Operation (SoO) .
According to the sources, out of the 10 designated camps to be set up for the militants under the SoO, five have been completed while the remaining camps are nearing to be completed.
The meeting emphasized in adhering the SoO ground rules strictly by the parties involved.
