AMGSU helps T Vaichong fire victims

Kangpokpi, December 08 2019: The All Manipur Gorkha Students' Union (AMGSU), Manipur today visited the fire victims of Tujang Vaichong with various relief materials and sought early compensation from the Government considering their grievances and hardships.

The AMGSU relief materials include Rice (12 bags), Sugar (10 Kg), Dal (23 Kg), Blankets Double Size (10 pieces), Blankets Medium Size (10 pieces), Bed sheets (15 pieces), Pillow and cover (10 pieces), Steel plates (20 pieces), Glass cup (25 pieces), Bowl small size (25 pieces), Spoon big size (15 pieces), Cabbage (1 bag), Potato (5 Kg), Mustard Oil (5 litres), clothes, bucket and a financial assistance of Rs 76,000.Speaking to media persons, LB Adhikari, president AMGSU said that fourteen students of Tujang Vaichong High School appearing their final examination had been staying on rent in one of the houses belonging to Lal Bahadur Dhungana which was cindered to ashes by the fire while adding that all their belongings including clothes, kitchen items, books, notebooks and other domestic item were all burnt by the inferno.

He also said that in another similar fire incident few days ago at Dahalthari in Irang Part-II, a residential house belonging to one Bhim Bahadur Budathoki was completely burnt down to ashes at night, cindering all the family's belonging to ashes while adding that the AMGSU had helped the victim family by providing rice and other basic requirements along with cash and household materials.

He then urged the State Government and authority concerned to act urgently and initiate compensation for the victims at the earliest.

He extended gratitude to the Chief of Tujang Vaichong, Lhunkhohen Kipgen, youth club, villagers of T Vaichong, Headmaster, teachers and students of T Vaichong High School and Irang Part-I High School, KSO and AMGSU Irang Unit, Assam Rifles, District Administration, MDCs and other neighbouring villages for their humanitarian service during the hard time of the fire victims.

Meanwhile, the AMGSU also appealed the concerned authority to repair the dilapidated condition of IT Road this winter season as the road condition has been deteriorating alarmingly while adding that Imphal-Tamenglong road in Twilang areas is one of the oldest State highways.
