Imphal, May 08 2010:
A man in his mid-50s has been hospitalised at RIMS with several bruise marks including wounds reportedly inflicted by razor blade.
The injured victim identified as Khaidem Biramani (55) s/o (L) Babujao of Sugnu Awang Leikai Ward No 8 was allegedly abducted by cadres of the United Kuki Liberation Front (UKLF), which is a signatory to the suspension of operation pact with the Government.
Biramani has several wound marks inflicted by both blunt weapon like stick/rod and razor blade injuries on the left arm and left leg.
Biramani told newspersons at the hospital that he along with his sons was returning back from Sugnu Hospital through a shorter route after dropping/admitting his wife to Sugnu Hospital for delivery case at 9 pm when about four persons in camouflage uniform and holding guns asked them to stop near a residential area called zou Veng.
Biramani said that while he responded positively on being asked to stop, his sons fled.
The armed persons, identifying themselves as UKLF cadres, closed in towards Biramani and questioned to which UG group he belongs and started to beat him with sticks.
He further claimed that he was taken away in a Maruti car to Sauhomphai village where his hands were hand-cuffed followed by slashing of his hand and leg even as others hit him with blunt objects.
Biramani narrated that as people of Sugnu Awang Leikai searched for him using public address system (mike) the armed persons abandoned him and fled after which three women from the nearby Tribal Colony escorted him out of Sauhomphai village.
