Cabinet decides to call House session from Dec 18

The State Cabinet has decided to convene the winter session of the Manipur Legislative Assembly from December 18 .
This is a demand which has been raised and pursued by different CSOs, particularly COCOMI and other political parties so that a fresh House resolution may be adopted to protect the interests of the State in the face of the pending final pact between the Government of India and the NSCN (IM) .
The Cabinet has also decided that the ongoing Sangai Festival will be extended till December 2 (Monday) .

The boycott of the festival called by COCOMI had drastically reduced the number of visitors to the festival sites, being held at Hapta Kangjeibung, Lamboikhongnangkhong and Keibul Lamjao.
The festival was also taken to Mao to coincide with the Cherry Blossom festival held there.
With Chief Minister N Biren in the chair, a Cabinet meeting was held this afternoon in the Cabinet Hall of the Chief Minister's Secretariat.
Briefing media persons after the Cabinet meeting, Government spokesman and Education Minister Th Radheshyam said that the meeting decided to convene the 9th session of the 11th Manipur Legislative Assembly from December 18 and added that key issues of the State would be deliberated during the session.
As decided at the Cabinet meeting, a committee headed by PHE Minister L Dikho has been constituted so as to resolve boundary disputes with Nagaland over Dzuko Valley and Tungjoy.
Revenue Minister Karam Shyam, Tribal Affairs Minister L Kayisii and the Additional Chief Secretary (Tribal Affairs) are convenors of the committee, Radheshyam said.
The committee would visit the contested areas on December 1 and talk with their Nagaland counterparts.
The Cabinet meeting also decided to double the ration money of Manipur Police personnel from Rs 1000 per month to Rs 2000 per month.
It further resolved to formulate a State textile policy.
Another resolution adopted at the Cabinet meeting says that transgenders, HIV positive people and senior citizens would be brought under Section 12 of the Manipur State Legal Services Authority Act so that they can avail free legal aid, conveyed the Government spokesman.
The State Cabinet has also agreed to re-introduce the State lottery.
The State Cabinet further gave consent in-principle to the demands of Government college teachers.
The Cabinet meeting also agreed to recruit more manpower in PHED, Radheshyam added.
