Imphal, May 08 2010: A public meeting at Tadubi of Senapati district today demanded withdrawal of additional security forces at Mao gate even as a rally from thousands of womenfolk from Khuzama of Nagaland attempted to cross Mao Gate.

A public meeting held at a public ground at Tadubi Saturday has resolved to request the state government to withdraw state security forces detailed at Mao gate and leave the matter of dead bodies of two youths died in Mao gate incident on Thursday to the Naga Hoho, ANSAM and other NGOs supporting the visit of NSCN (IM) general secretary Th Muivah in the state, a report received here said.

The public meeting started at about 10.30 am was attended by villagers of around 10 villages of surrounding areas of Tadubi and concluded at about 1 pm.

A report received from Mao gate said that a peace and solidarity rally organised by Naga Mothers' Association (NMA) at Nagaland-Manipur border, Khuzama attempted to cross Mao Gate was foiled by the security forces detailing at Mao gate today about 1.45 pm.

Around 2000 womenfolk from different parts of Nagaland took part in the rally.

With strong resistance from the security force, they were prevented from further proceeding towards Manipur border the report said adding that no untoward incident reported.

In the continue attacks on the government offices in Naga dominated hill areas, three more offices in Ukhrul district were burnt down by miscreants suspected to be supporters of Muivah.

District sericulture office at Henbung, about three kilometer away from Ukhrul police station, the SDO and sub-divisional forest office of Kasom Khullen sub-division of the district were set on fire miscreants last, police report here said.

With the burning down of three more offices last night, as many as 13 government offices have so far been burnt down by miscreants in the last two days.

Meanwhile, protest against Muivah's attempt to enter Manipur and against the Central government's one sided decision continued in the valley area today also.

Sit-in protests were staged in various places across the four valley districts.

A women protest taking part one of the protests staged at New Chekon, Imphal said that Union Home minister, P Chidambaram should tender resignation for his one sided decision which created a communal tension in the state.

Communities settling in the state are living in harmony from time immemorial are kept at stake when he gave permission to enter Manipur.

This is not the first instance Centre is trying to create communal harmony in the state.

At many instance, they had tried to create unrestness in the state, she went on to blame.
