The untimely demise of Poknapham daily editor S Gopal Sharma continues to draw condolence messages from cross section of the society with many conveying solidarity to the bereaved family at their hour of crisis.
Joining others in mourning death of Gopal Sharma, Member of Parliament (Inner Manipur) Dr Th Meinya conveyed his heartfelt condolences to members of the bereaved family and to the Poknapham fraternity.
Organisations that condoled passing away of the pioneer figure in the field of journalism in the State included Editors' Forum Manipur, All Manipur Newspaper Sales and Distributors' Association, Manipur Pradesh Trinamool Congress, Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee, Patriotic Writers' Forum (Keishampat), Manipur State Council All India Youth Federation, Theatre Mirror (Haobam Marak Thingel), Theatre Centre Manipur (Keishampat), Roop Raag (Kwakeithel), All Manipur Students' Union (HQs), Coalition Against Drugs and Alcohol (Keishampat), United People's Front Manipur, Manipur People's Front Youth Front, MEELAL, Pangal Students' Organisation Manipur, Ethno Heritage Council, Bharatiya Janata Party manipur Pradesh, IPAK journal (Keishampat), All Manipur Govt Drivers and Technicians' Association and United Muslims Council Manipur.
Acknowledging Gopal Sharma's contributions to the journalist fraternity as well as to the society also prayed for peaceful rest of the departed soul in the heavenly abode.
Editor of the vernacular daily, who was also one of the founder members of All Manipur Working Journalists' Union passed away in the wee hours of August 9 after a prolonged illness.
