Thousands bid adieu to Sapam Robinhood
Streets Filled With Mourners; Road Leading To Awa-ching Thronged With People For The Last Rites

The mortal remains of Sapam Robinhood were finally consigned to flames on Thursday at Awa Ching on the foot of Nongmaiching (Baruni Hill) under Imphal East in the presence of thousands of mourners from all walks of life.
The day started with assembly of a massive crowd of people in traditional mourning dress and accoutrements at the Modern College, Imphal campus at 9 am.
They then claimed the martyr's body from JNIMS mortuary, Porompat at around 11 am.
Sapam Robinhood's body had been lying unclaimed at the mortuary since July 8 last, the day he was brutally killed by security personnel while charging a group of protesters demanding implementation of Inner Line Permit System (ILPS) in Manipur.

Members of the Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS), Joint Action Committee (JAC) formed against the brutal killing of Sapam Robinhood, ILPS activists, thousands of well wishers and sympathizers participated in the funeral procession which kicked-off from JNIMS mortuary after claiming the body.
The participants paid rich floral tributes to Robinhood at his residence in Khurai Lairikyengbam Leikai which was joined by his family members and relatives.
Later, the mourners came to Ananda Singh Higher Secondary Academy, Nongmeibung where Robinhood was studying in Class XI and paid homage to him along with his teachers and school mates.

The procession further marched towards the ancestral residence of the late student at Keishamthong Thangjam Leirak where the mourners paid tribute to the martyr.
They then finally headed for Awa Ching where the last rites were performed.
JCILPS Women Wing members, JCILPS Students' Wing members, Robinhood's family members and relatives also took part in the funeral ceremony.
Members of Meetei Enat Huiyen Lalong Sindam Sanglen paid homage to the departed soul by performing a subtle Thang-Ta dance while singers of Apunba Manipuri Matam Isei Kanglup (AMMIK) sang a song dedicated to the late martyr before the body was consigned to flames.
Meanwhile, the roads at Kumbi, Ithai and Terakhong were filled with people observing candle light vigils on Thursday evening .
The vigils were organised to mourn the death of Sapam Robinhood under the aegis of Joint Coordinating Committee ILP Kumbi Kendra Movement.
