Awareness programme on vector borne diseases organised

Bishnupur, November 07 2023: An awareness programme on vector borne diseases was held today at Thiyam Mangrapokpi jointly organised by the District Vector Borne Disease Control Programme (DVBDCP) Bishnupur and Thiyam Youth Club cum Library.

The awareness programme was conducted to sensitize the locals of the region on the causes and preventive measures of vector borne diseases amid the rising cases of these diseases.

District Malaria Officer, Dr Th Nabakeshore Singh; Supervisor, M Dineshchandra Singh; Consultant Romoni Wangkhom; Supervisor H Dhonjao Singh and Thiyam Youth Club cum Library president N Sanjit attended the programme as presidium members.

Speaking at the occasion, Dr Th Nabakeshore Singh said most of the dengue positive cases in Bishnupur district are in the recovery stage undergoing treatment at their respective homes.

Stating that there is no rapid spread of dengue in the district, he informed that more than 60 larvae breeding sites have been identified and fumigation has been done at these sites to prevent the further spread of dengue.

In addition to the above, more than 10, 000 mosquito nets were dipped in insecticide treated solution, he added.

Further he appealed to all to follow the preventive measures to stay protected from vector borne diseases.
