JD (U) sticks to Third Front Govt stand

Imphal, February 14, 2013: Janata Dal (United) reiterated that mandate of the people in the upcoming Parliamentary elections will be for a Third Front Government at the Centre.

The Third Front regaining power at the centre is a certainty after the general elections, affirmed the party's North East in-charge secretary Arunkumar Srivastava while speaking to newspersons at the Babupara office of the JD (U) State unit today.

Taking into account the imminent national political development a number of political meetings of the Third Front partners have been held in preparation for the Government formation, maintained Arunkumar while asserting that the Third Front Government would be a stable one that would last the full five-year term.

Exuding confidence of the Third Front Government successfully tackling outstanding issues besetting the nation, he noted that 10 non-Congress and non-BJP political parties nominating common candidates for both the Inner and outer Manipur parliamentary Constituencies not only deserves appreciation but would also boost ongoing strategy for reinstating Third Front Government in the Centre.

Taking a dig at the election campaign of the BJP, Arunkumar said BJP projecting Narendra Modi as the party's Prime Ministerial candidate and the Gujarat Chief Minister addressing public rallies in different States under the assumption as PM-designate is merely an attempt to cast a spell on the people through pompous and presumptuous but infeasible speeches.

Contrary to projecting narendra Modi as leader of the poorer section of the society, the BJP has been making huge expenditure for Modi's rallies with the ultimate aim of filling up meeting venues, alleged the JD (U) secretary.

Not sparing the Congress party from his tirade, he contended that in the 10 years of Congress rule in the Centre the country's overall socio-economic condition has degraded with corrupt elements continuing to indulge in unfair activities due to incompetency of the Central Government.

Expressing serious concern on the recent spate of racial attacks against people from the North East region in New Delhi, Arunkumar said JD (U) MPs initiated parliamentary debates along with demanding stringent punitive action against those accused of causing harm to the NE citizens.

Among others, repealing of AFSPA 1958 from Manipur and peaceful settlement of the insurgency problem besieging the State through the dialogue process would be included in the election manifesto of the Third Front coalition partners, announced the secretary.
