Imphal, February 14, 2013:
The Core Committee of 10 non-Congress and non-BJP political parties is likely to announce Lien Gangte as their common candidate in the Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
It may be mentioned that the committee had already announced CPI State Unit General Secretary Dr M Nara as the common candidate in Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency.
According to an informed source, the committee is likely to bring a consensus on declaring Janata Dal (United) nominee Lien Gangte as the common candidate of 10 political parties in Outer MPC.
Hailing from Ujungmakhong village under Henglep Assembly Constituency, Lien Gangte resigned from the primary membership of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) today to pave way to become a JD(U) nominee for the upcoming LS polls.
The Core Committee will meet at Irawat Bhavan to discuss the issue and declare a common candidate for Outer MPC tomorrow.
Although, the committee was supposed to announce a common candidate today, it was delayed due to an internal matter, said the source.
