IK Muivah, SSP, Prisons has been promoted to Dy Inspector General of Police by an order issued by Department of Personnel, Manipur.
He belongs to 2000 batch of Manipur-Tripura cadre.
He did his BA Honours and MA in History from St Stephen's college, Delhi where he served as college Chess Captain besides winning the prestigious Mukarji Memorial debating prize in Delhi University.
He also served as elected Chairman of Officers Club of the Civil Services Probationers at Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration, Mussoorie in 2000.He also won the Gandhi Gyan Mandir Yoga prize at National Police Academy in 2001. He has been posted as SDPO, Thoubal district, Assistant Commandant, 2nd Manipur Rifles, SDPO, Bishnupur, SP, Bishnupur district, SP, CMT, Commandant, 8th Manipur Rifles with brief dual charge of SP, Chandel district and as SP, Manipur Central Jails, Imphal and Sajiwa and SSP, Manipur Central Jails where he carried out transformative prison reforms along the lines of Tihar Jails.
He was awarded with DGP's Commendation Disc on Manipur Police Raising Day in 2013.

He holds Masters in Police Administration degree from Osmania University in 2002 and has completed Middle Management Course in Italy under United Nations in 2006.He has undergone Mid-Career Training Programme in Australia in 2011.He has attended various courses and seminars such as Technology in Crime and Crime Prevention at IIT, Bombay, Asia-Pacific Conference of Correctional Administrators at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi in 2013 and was a plenary speaker at the National Conference of Correctional Administrators at Ministry of Home Affairs, New Delhi in 2012.
