LCTT urges Government to draft Manipur Rifles Bill

Imphal, August 17 2023:
The Leadership Council of Thang-Ta (LCTT), Manipur has appealed to the State Government to draft the Manipur Rifles Bill and make it an Act during the upcoming Manipur Legislative Assembly Session.
In a release, LCTT also urged the Government to add some provisions in the Army Act to include Manipur Rifles/ local forces in guarding the border, checking drug trafficking and controlling foreign terrorists.
"Situation like the ongoing conflict where foreign terrorists have wreaked havoc in the State with sophisticated automatic rifles and RPGs causing many civilians casualties calls for an immediate need to increase the number of Manipur Rifles/ local Force who understand the topography and terrain of the area to support the Indian Army in guarding the Indo-Myanmar Border and protecting the territorial integrity and National sovereignty", it added.
The Council also appealed to the Central and State Government to take necessary actions to resettled the displaced people both from the Meitei and Kuki communities.
LCTT further urged all the communities to consider the future of the children/ youths and come together to restore peace & harmony in Manipur.
