Joint consultative meet calls for respect of Naga's land rights, amicable solutions through peaceful dialogue

A joint consultative meeting of Makhan-Kanglatongbi Naga Forum and Koubru Range Foothills Area Naga Leaders with United Naga Council (UNC) Working Committee was held at Makhan Village on August 10 last with regard to the prevailing situation in Manipur.
The consultative meeting is an initiative of the UNC Working Committee to strengthen the Naga communities settling in the various sensitive areas, said a press release by the Information and Publicity Cell, Makhan-Kanglatongbi Naga Forum.
The recently concluded consultative meeting marked a significant step forward in upholding the spirit of neutrality and sending a loud message to the Government and other communities regarding the sensitivity of Naga land in addressing issues in the present state of Manipur.
The meeting aimed to facilitate constructive dialogue and foster a peaceful resolution to the challenges faced by the Naga community without compromising the sanctity and sovereignty of the Naga's land.
The participants, including representatives from various Naga organizations and community leaders, engaged in a comprehensive discussion on protecting the rights and interests of the Nagas, while encouraging an inclusive approach to bring a lasting solution in the Naga area in particular and the North Eastern part of India.
During the consultative meeting, the key points of preservation of Naga Land, peaceful and constructive dialogue, unity and coordination and engagement with the Government were addressed and agreed upon unanimously.
The participants unequivocally emphasized the preservation and protection of Naga land as an integral part of their identity and cultural heritage.
They firmly expressed their opposition to any attempts to disintegrate upon Naga's land or any act that will adversely affect the interest of the Naga people while attempting to address demands of any other community or resolving conflicts or addressing issues in the present of Manipur and asserted that the Naga people should always be consulted for anything related to the land in their area.
The meeting also stressed on the significance of maintaining a peaceful and constructive environment for dialogue to find mutually acceptable solutions in the true spirit of the historic Framework Agreement signed between the Government of India and the Naga leadership.
Recognizing the strength in unity, the consultative meeting underscored the need for cohesive efforts among various Naga organizations and communities.
Participants reaffirmed their commitment to working collectively through the United Naga Council to address the challenges faced by the Nagas in Manipur.
While upholding the spirit of neutrality, the participants acknowledged the importance of engaging with the Government authorities to convey their concerns and aspirations.
They expressed their intention to seek peaceful negotiations and meaningful dialogue with the Government representatives to find lasting solutions that respect Naga land rights.
And also encouraged all the stakeholders to come forward through open communication channels aimed to build trust, foster understanding and create the necessary space for reconciliation in Manipur.
It may be noted that the consultative meeting served as an important platform for promoting unity, upholding neutrality and asserting the significance of Naga land in issue resolution in Manipur.
The participants collectively sent a stern message to the Government and other communities, urging them to respect Naga land rights and find amicable solutions through peaceful dialogue.
