Protest staged against abduction bid

Imphal, August 17 2023:
Unknown miscreants allegedly tried to abduct a married woman (44 years) from Mayang Imphal Chabung Company Awang Leikai at around 6.30 pm of August 15 .
It is reported that the miscreants came in a car, parked their vehicle and waited for the opportune time before making the abduction bid when the woman who has two children was heading towards a chemist shop in her locality.
Denouncing the incident, a sit-in protest was staged at Mayang Imphal Chabung Company Awang Leikai, today.
Speaking to the media, member of Chabung Company Apunba Meira Paibi, Chongtham Hemabati said that the unfortunate incident took place when the woman was out to purchase Blood Pressure pills for herself.
Claiming that the miscreants directed a light beam on the woman's face when the latter reached the area where they parked their car and attempted to push her inside the car, she said that the victim fell unconscious after shouting for help.
People in nearby areas rushed to the site on hearing the cry of the woman while the miscreants fled from the area, she added.
Saying that this case of abduction bid has left people from her locality especially women and children traumatised, Hemabati asked the authorities concerned to take up necessary action to ensure the safety of the civilians especially women and children.
She also urged the authorities concerned to find and book the miscreants who tried to abduct the middle aged woman.
