Imphal, August 17 2023:
Contending that the initiatives taken up by the government to rehabilitate the people displaced by the conflict in the newly constructed fabricated houses will not bring a new life to them, All Manipur Nupi Marup maintained that resettling the displaced people in their respective homes and reconstructing their destroyed houses will only bring normalcy.
In a release, All Manipur Nupi Marup secretary L Sumatibala said that Kukis will try to claim the residential areas of the displaced Meeteis if they are kept in relief camps and fabricated houses for a long time.
A vivid example is putting up of signboads by Kukis after bulldogging the residences of Meiteis in Moreh, Churachandpur, Kangpokpi and Motbung among others.
Even there were reports of clash between Kuki and Paite over the occupation of areas resided by Meiteis in Churachandpur district.
As several retired high ranking military officers and defence analysts commented that military solution will not bring an end to the conflict but a political solution will, she said that higher ups of central forces should take responsibilities for making the leaders of both the communities sit and talk so as to end the conflict and facilitate restoration of peace and normalcy.
